VIDEO: Frances McDormand Fights the Power in ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ Trailer

Woody Harrelson, Peter Dinklage, and Sam Rockwell co-star in the Martin McDonagh film

Frances McDormand may have won an Oscar playing a kind-hearted cop in “Fargo,” but she has no problems sticking it to the man in the red-band trailer for her darkly comic drama “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

McDormand plays Mildred Hayes, a foul-mouthed, grief-stricken mother hellbent on figuring out who killed her daughter, whether that means drilling holes into her dentist or calling out local law enforcement via billboard. “Seems to me the police department is too busy torturing black folks to solve actual crime,” she explains.

Frequent Stern Show guest Woody Harrelson co-stars as Ebbing’s police chief and the frequent target of her tongue lashings; after kindly asking Ms. Hayes to remove the billboards, she accuses him of “whining like a bitch.”

Sam Rockwell (“Moon”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), and Abbie Cornish (“Limitless”) also co-star in the film from Fox Searchlight and writer-director Martin McDonagh (“In Bruges”), set to hit theaters sometime in 2017.
