If you’ve been thinking of adopting an adorable furry friend in need of a good home, this is a great weekend to swing through Port Washington, N.Y.

Starting Saturday at 9 a.m. and running for a full 36 hours, the North Shore Animal League will hold its 23rd annual Global Pet Adoptathon, the world’s largest pet adoption event. As mentioned this week by Beth Stern on the Howard Stern Show, the event features hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens just waiting to become a part of your family.

The festivities also include performances by Purina’s Incredible Dog Team, food trucks, and a Family Corner with activities for kids. Additionally, adoption fees will be waved for the first 100 adopters on Saturday and the first 50 on Sunday, starting at noon.

Of course, if you’re not in the Port Washington area, you can still show your support by finding a Pet Adoptathon near you.
