VIDEO: John Krasinski Battles Terrorists to the Tune of Ed Sheeran and Rapper Devlin’s ‘All Along the Watchtower’ Cover in New ‘Jack Ryan’ Teaser

Tom Clancy-inspired spy series debuts Aug. 31 on Amazon

July 5, 2018

Tom Clancy’s infamous American super spy faces a new threat in the latest “Jack Ryan” teaser, released on the Fourth of July.

In previous trailers, up-and-coming C.I.A. analyst Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) gets transferred from a desk to the field for his first death-defying assignment. In the latest (above), Jack battles an assortment of unnamed terrorists to the soundtrack of a 2012 tune by British rapper Devlin which covers the chorus of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” and features Grammy-winning Stern Show guest Ed Sheeran. While Krasinski’s character doesn’t speak any lines of dialogue in the clip, there are a few voiceover snippets of speeches from U.S. presidents, including John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton.

Husband to actress and 2015 Stern Show guest Emily Blunt, Krasinski starred alongside Steve Carell for years on the NBC sitcom “The Office” before transitioning toward action-heavier roles with Michael Bay’s “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” and his supernatural horror film “A Quiet Place,” in which he stars opposite his wife. With “Jack Ryan” John becomes the fifth man to portray the character on screen, following Chris Pine, Ben Affleck, Harrison Ford, and the “Hunt for Red October” original, June Stern Show guest Alec Baldwin.

“Jack Ryan,” co-starring Abbie Cornish (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Wendell Pierce (“The Wire”), and Ali Suliman (“The Looming Tower”), debuts Aug. 31 on Amazon. Watch the latest trailer (above) and check out a few more Ed Sheeran covers as performed on the Stern Show (below).
