VIDEO: Seth Meyers Describes His Long Road Back to ‘Saturday Night Live’ in New Promo

Late-night star and repeat Stern Show guest hosts NBC's long-running comedy series this weekend alongside musical guest Paul Simon

Seth Meyers needn’t travel far to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, but the show’s former “Weekend Update” anchor and head writer is still treating his much-anticipated homecoming like a very big deal.

The comedian, late-night TV star, 2018 Golden Globes emcee, and repeat Stern Show guest returns to Studio 8H on Saturday to headline “SNL” for the very first time, and in a promo for the episode Seth pulls at the heartstrings with a voiceover narration describing the big journey.

“No one ever said that homecomings are easy, and if something is too easy it’s hardly worth doing,” Seth begins (above). “So, no matter how hard the road, how long the journey, I’m going to make it back to Studio 8H.”

As current cast members Kenan Thompson and Alex Moffat point out, however, Seth isn’t actually traveling very far to get there. His current NBC gig, “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” tapes just down the hall.

Seth will be “SNL’s” third host of Season 44, following fellow Stern Show veteran Adam Driver and actress, rapper, and apparent longtime Stern Show fan Awkwafina. He will be joined by musical guest Paul Simon.

“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays on NBC at 11:30 p.m. Watch the promo for Seth Meyers’ upcoming episode (above).
