Jeff Bridges plays a priest with more on his mind than service to God in the latest trailer for “Bad Times at the El Royale,” 20th Century Fox’s genre-bending noir about seven strangers with secrets who come together at a quirky, rundown hotel on the California-Nevada border.

The actor and 2014 Stern Show guest pretends to be a man of the cloth in early scenes, but his character Father Flynn later confesses to another guest (“Widows” star Cynthia Erivo) that he’s far from who he seems. And when everything at the El Royale hotel goes to hell—rain pours down, guns get drawn, a woman swings from a chandelier, and a shirtless Chris Hemsworth waxes poetic about choosing sides—Bridges’ character is unperturbed.

“Shit happens,” he tells the bellhop in the trailer (above). “Get the whiskey.”

Written and directed by Drew Goddard (“The Martian,” “Cloverfield”), the film also stars “Suspiria” starlet Dakota Johnson, “Baby Driver’s” Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman, and Stern Show celebrity superfan Jim O’Heir.

“Bad Times at the El Royale” opens Oct. 12. Watch the official trailer (above).
