The larger-than-life persona of one of this generation’s most iconic funnymen is the subject of the upcoming documentary “The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man.”

The doc follows director Tommy Avallone’s journey to investigate both the urban legends about Murray as well as some of his widely reported interactions with regular people. The recently released trailer features interviews with several citizens who have come in contact with Bill after he crashed kick ball games, sang karaoke with strangers, and made unexpected cameos at weddings, to name just a few examples.

“There’s always that one person you want to meet, and you feel like this is never going to happen,” one man explains (above). “And then the guy shows up at your door.”

Of course, celebrities have been known to reflect upon run-ins with Bill Murray, too. When acclaimed actress Scarlett Johansson joined the Stern Show in 2017, she spoke about her unique experience working with Murray on the acclaimed 2003 film “Lost in Translation.” Conversely, during his 2014 Stern Show debut, Bill opened up to Howard about several of the celebrities he’s worked with, including David Letterman, Gilda Radner, and John Belushi. Look back at Bill and Howard’s conversation here and listen to a clip from Scarlett’s sit-down with Howard (below).

“The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man” premiered at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival. It hits select theaters Oct. 25 and is available Oct. 26 on demand.
