VIDEO: Russell Crowe Demands ‘Absolute Loyalty’ as Fox News’ Roger Ailes in ‘The Loudest Voice’ Official Trailer

Miniseries portraying the cable news giant's rise and fall debuts June 30 on Showtime

Russell Crowe makes it his mission to take over the world one TV set at a time in the official trailer for “The Loudest Voice,” Showtime’s upcoming miniseries chronicling the rise and fall of late Fox News mastermind Roger Ailes.

“Television is the most powerful force in the world,” Crowe explains as Ailes at the offset of the clip, adding: “We’re going to give them a vision of the world. The way it really is, and the way they want it to be. If we can do that then they will never change the channel.”

Based on Gabriel Sherman’s explosive book “The Loudest Voice in the Room” and executive produced by Sherman, Crowe, and Jason Blum, among others, the series co-stars Naomi Watts as Gretchen Carlson, the on-air newscaster who filed a 2016 sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes, Sienna Miller as Roger’s much younger wife Beth Ailes, Simon McBurney as media mogul Rupert Murdoch, and Stern Show veteran Seth MacFarlane as former Fox News PR exec Brian Lewis.

If the trailer is any indication, Ailes, who once offered a job to Stern Show veteran and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, surrounded himself with people who knew how to follow orders. “I need absolute loyalty,” Crowe’s character demands at one point.

Of course, Fox News’ controversial empire was dramatized on the Stern Show long before being turned into a Showtime miniseries. When Howard hosted actress and comedian Amy Schumer in 2017, just a few weeks before Ailes’ death, he even invited Amy to join his Fox News musical. Check out the duo’s impromptu duet here.

“The Loudest Voice” premieres Sunday, June 30 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
