Howard spent time Monday mourning the deaths of two people he considered friends of the Stern Show: frequent caller Wheels and public access host Paula Gloria, who used to be on the receiving end of Richard Christy and Sal Governale’s phony phone calls.

“She was too sweet to ever hang up,” Howard remembered of Paula, who was 68 at the time of her death. “I liked this woman. She was great because no matter what they were doing she was just so sweet about it.”

Paula’s catchphrase of “mantra and yantra creates tantra” at one point was a regular part of the show and she even hosted a program on Howard 101 in the channel’s infancy. “If there is good news, the good news is she’s finally safe from Richard and Sal,” Howard joked of the good sport.

Howard also paid tribute to Wheels who has been calling the Stern Show for 15 years – he passed away in December at the age of 54. “Wheels always called in with great phone calls,” Howard noted.

“We had a lot of fun with Wheels over the years, I’m so sorry to hear that,” co-host Robin Quivers added.

Mariann From Brooklyn called in with her own memories. “He was the most incredible soul,” she said of Wheels whom she got to know through social media before finally meeting at Howard’s 2014 Birthday Bash. “He loved the show – Robin he had a big crush on you, he loved you. He loved me and I loved him.”
