Immortal superheroes from space reunite to save the Earth from, well, something in the first teaser for Marvel’s “Eternals,” arriving in November.

The clip begins in the Neolithic era, as an alien race of superpowered beings descends from the heavens while Early Man watches on in amazement. These so-called Eternals split up and go their own way over the next 7,000 years, sitting largely on the sidelines as wars are fought, civilizations rise and crumble, and the intergalactic villain Thanos wipes out half of existence with a snap of his fingers.

“We have watched and guided, we have helped them progress and seen them accomplish wonders,” explains Ajak (Salma Hayek), an Eternal with healing powers. “Throughout the years we have never interfered. Until now.”

Neither Ajak nor her alien comrades—played by Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Brian Tyree Henry, Kumail Nanjiani, and “Game of Thrones” actors Richard Madden and Kit Harington, among others—say what pressing menace they’ve banded back together to fight, but the teaser does reveal they’ve kept tabs on Earth’s other superheroes in the interim.

“So, now that Captain Rogers and Iron Man are both gone, who do you think is going to lead the Avengers?” Sprite (Lia McHugh), who takes the form of a young girl, asks her fellow Eternals over a meal.

“I could lead them,” responds Ikaris (Madden), who shoots cosmic laser beams from his eyes.

Directed by Oscar-winning “Nomadland” filmmaker Chloé Zhao and co-written by Zhao and Patrick Burleigh, “Eternals” co-stars Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Gil Birmingham, and Harish Patel.

“Eternals” arrives Nov. 5 in theaters.
