Should Jon Hein Have to Pay Up for Losing His ‘Jeopardy!’ Bets With Howard and Ralph?
“They named like five hosts and none of them were Ken Jennings,” Howard’s stylist Ralph Cirella Argues
September 28, 2021What is the bet? That was the question Tuesday morning when Ralph Cirella argued Jon Hein owed him money after losing a bet they made over whether or not record-breaking “Jeopardy!” contestant Ken Jennings would wind up being named the game show’s new permanent host following the death of Alex Trebek.
“I think Jon Hein needs to pay off that ‘Jeopardy!’ bet because even though he quit, they named a host for ‘Jeopardy!’ and it wasn’t Ken Jennings,” Ralph said, referring to former executive producer Mike Richards who stepped down as the show’s host amidst controversy after briefly holding the job. “They named like five hosts and none of them were Ken Jennings.”
“Right now, Ken Jennings is the host,” Jon defended, saying technically Jennings is now the show’s interim host. He also offered to pay Howard, whom he also bet with over who would wind up at the helm of “Jeopardy!” “Howard, I will gladly pay you the money that we bet where I said Ken Jennings would be the new host … even though he is going to be the new permanent host eventually,” Jon stated on Tuesday.
Despite insisting he won their wager, Howard remained affable. “I won the bet but, you know, it’s okay,” he told his staffer. “You don’t have to pay it.”
Ralph vehemently disagreed. “You have to pay me, and you have to pay me double because he lost twice, Ken Jennings,” he argued. “$200, Jon—pay up.”
