“I’m never going again. That is a place for people where the hobby is their lives,” the staffer tells Howard

JD Harmeyer rarely shies away from discussing his atypical hobbies on the air, and when the 42-year-old Stern Show staffer was asked about his sports card collection on Monday he offered up big league news: He’d struck out recently when trying to sell his cards at a trading card convention and would not be going back.

“The vendors were under-buying,” JD told Howard. “I’m never going again. That is a place for people where the hobby is their lives – it’s more than a hobby.”

“And you laugh at them?” Howard asked incredulously.

“I’m not laughing at them. It was [just] way too serious for me,” JD corrected.

But co-host Robin Quivers wasn’t convinced JD had learned his lesson. “All these vendors at these conventions have to wait for with JD is the day he needs money because he’s going to be easy to get those cards from. He’s not walking away from $200 for a $400 card,” she laughed.
