JD Harmeyer’s trip out West continues to be the gift that keeps on giving.

Musician and celebrity superfan Natalie Maines called into the Stern Show Tuesday morning and dished on what really happened after she invited JD and his colleague Jon Blitt to an intimate gathering at her Southern California home. As previously reported, the staffers were the guests of honor at a small dinner party brimming with tequila, Mexican food, and plenty of conversation about the Stern Show. While JD had copped to taking cannabis on the car ride to the Chicks singer’s soiree, he seemed to have downplayed how high he’d truly gotten.

“He did arrive with just slits for eyes, so I could tell there was something going on on the way over,” Natalie told Howard.

“Was JD everything you hoped for in a dinner guest?” Howard wondered.

“JD was a very fine dinner guest. Blitt did most of the talking, but yeah JD does a lot of laughing, which is what you want,” the country music superstar responded before delivering her best impression of a JD hoot. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, Howard, but JD’s new thing when he starts to get tongue tied … he’ll just go, ‘It’s a whole thing; it’s a whole thing.’”

“What did you make of this guy Jon Blitt?” Howard asked.

“Jon is, yes, like you say—it’s a whole thing, actually,” Maines joked, explaining Blitt spent his time at the shindig pitching TV shows.

Natalie had more than just a JD update to share, too. Her band the Chicks just announced they’d resumed touring for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown. Their tour kicks off June in Hollywood with ticket presale beginning today.

“Do me a favor and when you play New York, you’ve gotta have JD up on stage with a tambourine,” Howard joked. “You gotta.”

“My pleasure,” Maines responded with a laugh.
