VIDEO: Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne Reunite as Old Friends in Apple’s ‘Platonic’

Series reunites duo for first time since 2016’s “Neighbors” sequel

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are determined to prove men and women can be just friends in the new Apple TV+ show “Platonic.”

The comedy reunites the two stars, who played a couple in the “Neighbors” film franchise, along with Nicholas Stoller, who co-created the project with writer and director Francesca Delbanco.

In “Platonic,” Will (Rogen) is newly divorced and reconnects with Sylvia (Byrne) after a long absence — just in time for both of their midlife crises. While a friend argues it’s impossible for the opposite sex to be friends without romantic complication, Will disagrees. “There’s lots of famous men and women friends,” he insists, before noting Laura Dern and Sam Neil in “Jurassic Park” as one such example.

Things get literally messy, with Will and Rose somehow destroying a garage, glass door, and an entire liquor store wine bottle display in the trailer alone. “You’re like a couple of teenaged girls,” a pal of Sylvia’s observes at one point. “Your whole thing is so weird and destructive.”

Stern Show regular Rogen and Byrne serve as executive producers, along with Stoller, Delbanco, and Conor Welch. Also included in the cast are Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Carla Gallo and Andrew Lopez.

“Platonic” debuts on May 24 on Apple TV+.
