Possible ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Hosts Include Ryan Seacrest, Whoopi Goldberg, and JD Harmeyer?

With the news that longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak plans to retire in 2024, a lot of heavyweights have expressed interest in taking over, including Ryan Seacrest, Whoopi Goldberg, and recent Stern Show guest Stephen A. Smith. But there’s also a dark horse in contention — staffer JD Harmeyer.
When JD, who has been critical of the game show in the past, expressed interest in hosting, Howard offered him an impromptu audition. “Ready? Places, places,” JD said of the puzzle category in his best presenter voice.
“You’ve got to say “places” twice?” co-host Robin Quivers wondered.
“If you’re JD, you better say it 10 times,” Howard joked.
Besides that, the staffer flowed through the game pretty seamlessly, even impressing Howard. “JD, you were really good at that,” he observed.
“I’ve just seen Pat … he barely does anything,” JD explained before adding, “Now if I had to talk to the contestants, that’s a whole different story.”
