Today – Hall and Oates!

Wednesday, February 18th, 2015

The great Hall & Oates are one of the most successful musical acts of the 20th century and they’re a big favorite of Stern Show executive producer Gary ‘Baba Booey’ Dell’Abate.

They’ll be making their Stern Show debut (as a duo) today and everybody is excited.

They have been part of the show for a long time – in one way or another – through song parodies, through Daryl’s performances in the studio and through the observation shared by many – that John Oates looks exactly like our producer Gary Dell’Abate.

John Oates and Gary Dell’Abate (2014)

Ever since Gary burst onto the scene in 1984, he’s been compared – physically – to John Oates. At one point, they really, really did look alike (84 – 94 were the peak doppelgänger years). So much so that John recently recorded a PSA begging the public to stop mistaking him for Gary.

In the early Sirius days, a listener named Patrick Knowles sent in an inspired Robin song parody to the tune of ‘I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)’.

And, of course, the legendary Jon Hein jingle ‘Rich Nerd’, which was written by Mike Morse after Jon sold his website Jump the Shark to TV guide for somewhere under $1 billion.

Listen to both songs and the PSA below!
