Twitter Thought Richard Dreyfuss Was Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Deceased Father
After her touching Emmy speech, the "Veep" star has Twitter users mourning a different Dreyfus(s)
September 19, 2016Cases of mistaken identity are harder to pull off in the Internet age, but somehow people still find a way to not Google something.
During her acceptance speech of her fifth consecutive Emmy, “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus became very emotional when discussing her late father. “I’d like to dedicate this to my father William Louis-Dreyfus who passed away on Friday,” she said through barely-contained tears. “I’m so glad that he liked ‘Veep’ because his opinion was the one that really mattered. Thank you.”
Despite the fact that the last names are spelled differently — and that Julia mentioned her father’s name, William — several Twitter users seemed to think Julia’s father was “Jaws” actor Richard Dreyfuss.
Dreyfuss took to Twitter to clear up the matter:
I’m actually not Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ father. But I really appreciate all the concerned tweets. https://t.co/4heUxufeOa

The legendary actor continued tweeting during the Emmys, revealing intimate details about his relationship with the Oscar he won for “Goodbye Girl” in 1977:
One of my favorite things to do is just pet my Academy Award.People think it’s weird.People have never petted their own Academy Award.
