A young man expresses anxiety over losing his virginity in the newly released trailer for “Alex Strangelove,” primarily because he can’t decide whether he’s more attracted to a male buddy or his girlfriend.

Netflix’s upcoming comedy stars Daniel Doheny as Alex Truelove, a young man with charm, good grades, and a perfectly lovely girlfriend Claire (Madeline Weinstein). His path in life seems crystal clear right up until the point he befriends Elliott (Antonio Marziale), a quirky and confident openly gay young man. After Alex realizes he might be attracted to Elliott, he’s suddenly forced to explore the contours of his sexual identity like never before.

“It’s like Mad Max out here,” one character explains in the trailer (above). “Guys doing guys. Girls doing girls. Girls turning into guys and doing girls that used to do girls and guys.”

“Alex Strangelove” is written and directed by Craig Johnson—the filmmaker behind Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig’s acclaimed 2014 dramedy “The Skeleton Twins”—and produced by repeat Stern Show guest Ben Stiller, Jared Goldman, and Nicky Weinstock. The film co-stars Joanna Adler, William Ragsdale, and Isabella Amara.
