VIDEO: American Troops Battle Nazi Zombies in J.J. Abrams-Produced, AC/DC-Infused ‘Overlord’ Trailer

World War II-set horror flick hits theaters on Nov. 9

July 19, 2018

War is even more horrifying than usual in the official trailer for “Overlord,” a J.J. Abrams-produced flick about American soldiers who come face-to-face with Nazi-engineered monstrosities on the eve of D-Day.

Fittingly set to AC/DC’s anthemic “Hells Bells,” the trailer (above) begins with a squad of young paratroopers trading stories about their life back home when their aircraft takes heavy fire and crashes down in Nazi-occupied France. Those who make it out safely find themselves behind enemy lines and forced to take refuge in a mysterious Nazi compound where scientists have been conducting heinous supernatural experiments on their own soldiers in the hopes of creating a super army of zombie Nazis which just might turn the tides of war.

“Overlord” stars Wyatt Russell (“Everybody Wants Some!!”), Bokeem Woodbine (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”), Iain De Caestecker (“Agents of Shield”), and Pilou Asbæk (“Game of Thrones”). The film is directed by Julius Avery from a script penned by Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”) and Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) and produced by Paramount Pictures and Abrams’s Bad Robot Productions, the company behind “Cloverfield,” “Super 8,” “Lost,” “Westworld,” and most of the latest entries in the “Mission: Impossible,” “Star Trek,” and “Star Wars” franchises.

When J.J. returned to the Stern Show in 2015, the filmmaker opened up about several of his ongoing film and TV projects, including “Star Wars: Episode IX,” due out next year. See his conversation with Howard about why he decided to direct “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (below).

“Overlord” reports for duty on Nov. 9. Watch the official trailer (top).
