VIDEO: Nazis Blow Up the Statue of Liberty in ‘The Man in the High Castle’ Season 3 Trailer

Amazon’s Philip K. Dick-inspired and Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi drama returns Oct. 5

Nazis are purging American history while the resistance is mounting a comeback in the official trailer for Season 3 of “The Man in the High Castle,” Amazon’s Emmy-winning, Philip K. Dick-inspired and Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi drama exploring what might have happened if the Allied Powers had lost World War II.

The United States had years ago been defeated, conquered, and carved up by German and Japanese forces on the show, but the new clip (above) shows Nazis taking a renewed interest in subjugating Americans in their occupied territory, by holding massive rallies in the streets, melting down culturally significant artifacts like the Liberty Bell, and even blowing up the Statue of Liberty with an airstrike.

But the trailer, largely set to a cover of U2’s “Pride (In the Name of Love)” isn’t all doom and gloom. It also teases the rise of the resistance and hints at encouraging developments for some familiar characters. Juliana (Alexa Davalos) works closely with Trade Minister Tagomi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) to interpret the mystery of the last remaining films which prove the existence of alternate universes, including some in which the Allies won the war, and Joe (Luke Kleintank) returns from Berlin and is sent on a diplomatic mission to San Francisco, where he and Juliana will reunite.

As hinted previously, Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith (Rufus Sewell) will also make some significant discoveries about alternate universes in upcoming episodes, but he’ll have to watch his back as North American Reichsmarschall Lincoln Rockwell and J. Edgar Hoover are plotting against him.

“The Man in the High Castle” returns Oct. 5 to Amazon Prime. Watch the official Season 3 trailer (above).
