VIDEO: Ryan Reynolds Skewers Everything From ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ to the DC Universe in Final ‘Deadpool 2’ Trailer

Marvel superhero's much anticipated follow-up film opens May 18

April 19, 2018

20th Century Fox unleashed the final “Deadpool 2” trailer on Thursday and apparently nothing and no one are safe from the Marvel superhero’s sardonic barbs: not his co-stars, not the rival DC Universe, not even LinkedIn.

The trailer begins with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and his newly assembled “super-duper fucking group” preparing to jump out of a plane and take on Cable, the time-traveling mutant bad guy played by Josh Brolin—the very same actor portraying the intergalactic space villain Thanos in April’s “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Brolin’s double-booking isn’t lost on Deadpool, who rarely passes up the chance to make a good meta joke. “Pump the hate breaks, Thanos,” Reynolds tells the camera at one point in the trailer (above).

Deadpool unloads another superhero-skewering zinger later while taking a beatdown from Cable, but instead of mocking Marvel again he takes a shot at rival DC Comics, known for churning out grittier comic book movies.

“You’re no fucking hero,” Brolin says while punching Reynolds in the face. “You’re just a clown dressed up as a sex toy.”

“So dark,” Reynolds responds. “You sure you’re not from the DC Universe?”

In addition to jokes and action aplenty, this final trailer for the first time shows Deadpool bringing together a squad of (mostly) mutant super friends, including franchise veterans Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) as well as newcomers Domino (Zazie Beetz), Bedlam (Terry Crews), and Peter, a mild-mannered beekeeper played by comedian Rob Delaney.

“Deadpool 2,” also starring Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller, opens May 18. Watch the final trailer (above).
