VIDEO: Keanu Reeves and Anjelica Huston Remember His Late Puppy in New ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum’ Trailer

Action franchise’s third installment hits theaters May 17

It’s Keanu Reeves against the world in the latest trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” arriving in May, and the odds seem just about even.

As fans of the action franchise will remember, John Wick (Reeves) was excommunicated from his shadowy international assassin’s guild because of his actions in “John Wick: Chapter 2,” leaving the ass-kicking hero with nowhere to run or hide while hundreds of the world’s most ruthless criminals make repeated attempts on his life hoping to cash in on a $14 million bounty.

The latest “Chapter 3” trailer shows Wick riding horses and motorcycles, climbing sand dunes in the desert, and laying the hurt on his enemies with quite literally anything he can find, including knives, swords, and all manner of guns. Though Reeves’ character may get minor assistance from the likes of Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and Anjelica Huston, he seemingly has to do most of the dirty work on his own.

Like in the previous films, this trailer teases plenty of canines, too—whether it’s Sofia (franchise newcomer Halle Berry) commanding a vicious pack of attack dogs or the Director (Huston) rolling her eyes at the fact John Wick’s three-film killing spree was only set in motion because a random thug murdered the dog his dead wife gave him.

“All of this for what? Because of a puppy?” Huston asks at the end of the trailer.

“It wasn’t just a puppy,” Reeves responds.

Directed once again by Chad Stahelski, the film also costars Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Lance Saïd Taghmaoui, Jerome Flynn, and Wrap Up Show veteran Jason Mantzoukas.

“John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” opens in theaters May 17.
