Technology and sex have been increasingly interwoven in modern times, with everything from mobile kiss messengers to amorous robots becoming realities. Now, virtual reality company CamasutraVR is taking techno-lovin’ to the next level.

The New York Post sets the scene with a report on CamasutraVR’s efforts to bring virtual reality sex to the homes of any horny techies: adult actress Annika Albrite is surrounded by 132 small cameras, acting out various movements, sexual acts, and positions all in the name of accuracy. As the article claims, CamasutraVR’s aim is to eliminate the “uncanny valley” in which a human replica elicits feelings of discomfort or simply makes someone creeped out. As such, attention to detail is key, and Albrite’s shoot, which includes extensive isolated facial muscle photography and full-body motion-capture scanning, seems to reflect that philosophy. The piece also describes Albrite being filmed on a couch, wearing a helmet, moaning, and simulating double penetration. Truly, all the stops are being pulled.

CamasutraVR got into the virtual porn game after researching flesh deformations, but now the company’s goal is to give users the ultimate virtual sexual experience, including the ability to share a space and interact with their digital partner. CamasutraVR claims that in time, users will be able to customize the faces and traits of their VR partners, even going so far as to creating their own virtual spouse. While this all may sound like the far sci-fi future, the company is set to unveil its first fully-animated porn star available for “interaction” later this month.

“When the viewer can interact; nobody else has that,” Albrite told the Post.
