The worlds of several different web-slingers collide in the official trailer for “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” Sony’s animated feature boasting multiple version of one of Marvel’s most popular heroes.

The trailer (above) follows Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore)—a Brooklyn-born iteration of Spider-Man created by Sara Pichelli and noted Stern Show fan Brian Michael Bendis in 2011—as he struggles to balance the typical trials and tribulations of teenage life with newfound powers he developed after a run-in with a radioactive spider. Sound familiar? It’s supposed to.

“In your universe, there’s only one Spider-Man,” Miles explains (above). “But there’s another universe. It looks and sounds like yours, but it’s not.”

Right on cue, Miles has a run-in with Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), who wears the Spider-Man mask in another universe. Unlike the character Tom Holland portrays in Sony and Marvel’s live-action films, however, this version of Peter is all grown up. And he’s apparently crossed into Miles’ dimension to teach the fledgling superhero a few tricks of the trade. The richly textured, brightly colored trailer doesn’t stop there, either. Miles and Peter both eventually meet up with Gwen Stacy (“Bumblebee” star Hailee Steinfeld), who serves as Spider-Woman in yet another universe.

The film’s villains include Green Goblin, Kingpin (“Ray Donovan’s” Liev Schreiber), and Prowler (Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali), and recent Stern Show guest Lily Tomlin has lent her voice to Peter Parker’s infamous Aunt May.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” written by Phil Lord and produced by Lord and Christopher Miller (“The Lego Movie”), swings into theaters Dec. 25. Watch the official trailer (above).
