VIDEO: Robin Wright Reveals Kevin Spacey’s Fate in New ‘House of Cards’ Teaser

Netflix’s acclaimed political drama debuts its sixth and final season Nov. 2

September 6, 2018

Robin Wright’s character Claire Underwood does everything short of spitting on her husband Frank’s grave in a new “House of Cards” teaser which finally answers a question many have been asking since last November: how will the show explain the absence of Kevin Spacey?

As it turns out, his character is dead.

The short promo (above) picks up on a shot of Claire, who has become the 47th President of the United States. She looks past the camera with a smirk and delivers a few scathing lines to what is quickly revealed to be Frank’s tombstone. “I’ll tell you this, though, Francis,” Claire says to his undecorated tombstone. “When they bury me, it won’t be in my backyard.”

Claire then turns to the camera, as Frank had so many times before, and delivers a kicker directly to the audience: “And when they pay their respects, they’ll have to wait in line.”

It’s perhaps a deserving end for the acclaimed drama’s power-hungry villain, whose ruthless ways helped him ascend from congressman to president over the span of just five seasons. It’s also a pointed send-off for the embattled actor, whom Netflix fired last November following allegations of sexual misconduct. Few other plot details have been revealed for “House of Cards’” upcoming sixth and final season, though the series will introduce new characters played by Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear to star alongside returning cast members Wright, Michael Kelly, Constance Zimmer, and Boris McGiver.

“House of Cards” Season 6 debuts Nov. 2 on Netflix. Watch the latest teaser (above) and check out more of what’s coming to TV this fall here.
