VIDEO: ‘Game of Thrones’ Teases Major Characters’ Deaths in 3 New Season 8 Teasers

Award-winning HBO drama kicks off its final season on April 14

Winter has finally overtaken the Seven Kingdoms, and for some major players vying for control of Westeros it looks like spring will never come.

On Tuesday, HBO unleashed three new promos for “Game of Thrones” Season 8, premiering next Sunday. The award-winning adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Fire and Ice” book series has been ruthlessly violent from the get-go, so there’s reason to believe some fan-favorite characters might soon meet their ends.

The third promo, “Aftermath,” shows a gruesome, snow-covered Winterfell battlefield and offers several clues as to who may be in jeopardy. While the camera doesn’t find any corpses, it does linger on Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) Valyrian sword, Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) wheelchair, Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) Hand of the Queen pin, and Jaime Lannister’s (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) artificial hand—perhaps foreshadowing their demise.

The first two teasers are less revealing, though no less dramatic. In “Survival,” the remaining Stark children, including Jon, Sansa (Sophie Turner), and Arya (Maisie Williams), do everything they can to keep on keeping on. In “Together,” Tyrion makes the case to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and her dragon-fortified army that their best chance of staying alive involves teaming up to take down the White Walkers.

“We must fight together now,” Dinklage’s character says in the promo (below). “Or die.”

“Game of Thrones” Season 8 debuts April 14 on HBO.
